Prescribed displacement in Cylindrical coord system

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

Thanks for reading my posting.
I am trying to circumferentially stretch a piece of flexible cylinder (with central angle of 75 degrees) and make it a half cylinder (central angle of 180 degrees). To get better idea about what my problem is please see the attached picture. The picture is from the solution that I got from Cartesian coord. Sys.

After I solved the problem using Cartesian coord. sys, I decided to solve it using cylindrical coordinate system, where in the boundary conditions I need to specify two DISPLACEMENTS: one in r direction and the other in phi (tangential) direction. Unfortunately, the program is not asking for entering the change in angle phi, but is asking about change in length (displacement) in phi direction.

My question is that whether this displacement is defined in COMSOL as d(r*phi)= r*d(phi)+phi*dr

Thank you.
Jessica W
