Cooling from water spray

Hi all,

We are trying to model an extrusion process, with an extruder making a polyethylene sheath that is extruded to 195degC. There is a part of the process that involves a water spray and I am unsure what might be the best way of modelling this.

Obviously, we dont want to model each droplet so what would be the best approach?

Something like modelling it as very cold air, or cold water with a low density? Or possibly lots of thin lines of water in air with a convection current?

Or is there any theory based heat transfer coefficients on water sprays?

What are people's thoughts?
