The AC/DC Module is appropriate for modeling static, transient, and sinusoidally time-varying electromagnetic fields. This course is a comprehensive introduction to the AC/DC Module and its usage for the modeling of resistive, capacitive, and inductive devices in addition to modeling magnets, forces, and motion. You will learn how to build models for electrostatic, magnetostatic and low frequency AC applications. You will also learn how to extract lumped electrical parameters from the model and augment these full-fidelity models by connecting them to a simple electrical circuit network model. This course allows current and potential users of COMSOL Multiphysics and the AC/DC Module to quickly get acquainted with its modeling capabilities.

Chris Pinciuc

Chris Pinciuc completed B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics at the University of Western Ontario and then received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is currently an Applications Engineer at COMSOL in Palo Alto, California. His interests include computational electromagnetics, the finite element method, atomic physics and magnetism.

Suggested Background

This course assumes an electrical engineering background and familiarity with Maxwell's Equations. We strongly recommend that those new to COMSOL Multiphysics take the COMSOL Multiphysics Intensive Training course prior to attending this class.

Course Hours

The hours for all COMSOL courses are from 9:00am to 5:00pm; please plan to check in between 8:30am and 9:00am. Lunch and refreshments during the morning and afternoon breaks are included.
